Subject	Hard wiring headlights?

Message	I am still have problems finding my short that is giving me just high beams and no dash board lights. So I was thinking tonight instead of taking it to Nissan and spending a ton of money finding what is wrong I was think it might be cheaper and easier to just hard wire the lights to the factor switch and install a fuse in the middle. Has anyone ever done this or if there are things I need to know before doing this? Or if there are reasons not to do this? Any imput would help. Thanks, ~John
