I have a 93 2+2 Non-Turbo Automatic. I love this car. I just bought it 2 weeks ago. Its been awesome. Has been running fine, minus a random and occasional rough idle + check engine light that cant seem to be reproduced. But its started right up fine.Long story short, I want to protect this baby. I had a remote start/alarm system put in. Its sweet. Worked great that day they installed it. Remote started about 3-5 times, flawless, alarm sets. Anyways, wake up in the morning, go to remote start, doesnt work. Have my friend who is really good with electronics and knows a good deal about cars look at it. Tells me that its something with the starter because even when he bypassed the alarm it still wouldnt start. Anyways, it wont start, tried to start it a few more times that day didnt work. So I take it over to MattZGarage in Sacramento. I wanted the full 120k service anyways, they fix it all up, 3 days later they tell me they unplugged the alarm and they said the start was fine. So again I drove it, Remote start still didnt work but I could drive it. So 2 days go by I was going to take it back to Frys to have them fix the alarm later this week. All the sudden, I go out to my car in the morning and again its dead. It wont turn on, no clicks or anything. All the dash lights come on but it doesnt work. I luckily have my civic so its ok for transportation. To end my essay, I then took it to Fry's TODAY, they call me and said yeah um we went to start it and it starts up fine, we rehooked up the remote start and hid the cords a bit better in case you may have hit something with your feet. BUT, we tried to start it by bypassing the alarm and it didnt work. He said the start was likely going bad. Well I have my car right now under the carport at my place. Its locked with the alarm. I am praying it will work tomorrow and just be something they fixed and are blaming on the starter but i doubt it. Can anyone with knowledge about this fill me in on the most likely cause. Just from what I have gathered and seen, I feel like this remote start put a little more stress on the starter and it is likely 16 years old and it may need to be replaced. I also read from my searches, replacing the starter relay is a good place to start but would that help THIS issue. Note: I tried to get a jump the first time, had NO effect. And yes i used the search feature and looked and most of the posts but they dont seem to quite talk about this issue. Quick summary again is: After sitting overnight twice, on different days, my car ceases to turn. No clicks or anything, power comes on my cd deck as I turn it goes dark.
