This is the second time I did the rebuild in the past week after following the rebuild FAQ to the T.The heads just came back from a rebuild at the best machine shop in the state. They build all the race cars up here, so I know they know what they are doing... but the machinist told me to install the lifters when they are bled out, not full of oil. His reasoning behind that is the problem I'm having now, the valves won't fully close and could smack right into the pistons. So I know the FAQ says to have the oil in the bucket, install the part that goes in, push the ball down and then release once it has bottomed out & the spring will then lift to its pumped up position. So now when you install the lifters they are at their maxed out pumped up position. When the lifters and cams are then installed the valves do no close fully. I've done a search and saw a few other people had the same issue but didn't see what they did to fix. Should I just leave the heads together for a few days and some oil will bleed out the lifters allowing the valves to fully close?? And will they not pump back up that much once installed and running in the car?? OR Should I take them back out, bleed them and let them pump up on their own once the car is started? (and will they pump right back up to the max, not allowing the valves to close??) Thanks in advance!
