The SAFC works by altering the MAF signal fed to the ECU, by changing this you can trick the ECU into thinking it's running leaner or richer then it really is and get it to adjust the fuel input in the direction you want it to go. So if you wanted to lean it out around a certain rpm you could tune the SAFC to tell the ECU that it's getting less air then it is and reduce the fuel input accordingly, resulting in a leaner A/F. It's basically for tuning the air/fuel ratio of a car that you can't tune by actually altering the ECU. It can also adjust for things like BOVs that dump metered air out of the system and cause an excessive rich condition. If you install the SAFC and the Zem then you'd just be tuning the Zem, the SAFC would just be handling the extra MAF input. In this case once you have it wired up you could basically forget about it. I'm doing that now, it just sits on the passenger floor telling me what rpm I'm at and generally looking lonely. The Selin kit just handles the extra MAF input and in this it makes a cleaner, easier install than running the extra wire and splicing it into the wiring harness on each end. If you already have everything ready to put the SAFC in then it's really kind of six on one-half dozen the other, just depends on what you want to do.
