Been there done that.... Also saw a NEW engine from a noted engine builder do the same thing.. Here's what I did,, installed new stud and reassembled timing belt. Did compresson test.. ALL was good ran engine for another year.. First put the crank with the matching marks on sproket and oil pump cover.. slowly turn camshafts back to matching mark on back plate, if it comes to a point it won't turn try turning the crankshaft 90 degrees (1/4 turn) then retry matching marks on cam sprocket with back cover.. If you can get the cams back to matching marks put the tensioner back and run a compresson test again. With a bent valve your going to have almost if not a 0 compression on that cylinder. And it doesn't mean a WHOLE new engine rebuild.. If you have bent valves most likely that's all you have...Take head off replace valve and reassemble .. Because of POOOR knownledge of the Z engine a major Race Engine builder in Ft.Worth screwed my heads up causing bent valves twice.. Both times I changed the bend valves out and continued running the car for over a year with no problems
