| A friend noticed my brake lights weren't working but the third brake light on the TT spoiler would work whenever the brake pedal was depressed. Also whenever I turned the parking lights on the respective brake lights would come on so I know the actual brake light bulbs aren't burned out. The dummy brake light isn't on and I don't have my service manual with me or any of my spare parts cars so I was hoping someone might have a fix. My thoughts are since the 3rd brake light comes on, it isn't the switch on the pedal. Additionally, because the lights come on and they are the same as the parking lights, the bulbs must not be burned out. I did find the "tail light controller" (greyish module) and would like to swap it with a known working one but don't have any around. I suspect the box is malfunctioned but have no idea when they lights stop working so I can't isolate it as the cause. Am I missing anything simple? I doubt any autozones or parts stores would carry a replacement. Any thoughts or help to offer? Thanks!
