Message	flange. That could be a source of the sound. The EGR valve is in the center rear of the plenum (back by the firewall, down fairly low) it does have a vacuum line running to it. If you have a length of garden hose (3 ft or so) - it can be used like a stethoscope to help locate noises around the engine bay....
