| for that matter, neither will stock Nissan VTC springs. The front cover spring's only function is to preload the sprocket axially to prevent fore and aft movement when the VTC is activated and oil pressure builds within the sprocket. The worst part about the JWT springs is that their solid height is very close to the installed height. If they install coilbound, they will lock the VTC mechanism and render is inoperable... which is they only way they will stop the noise. All of my rebuild VTC test vehicles used stock Nissan VTC springs and half of them were used ones without any problem whatsoever. The stock springs do not wear out.
