I don't have much hands-on experience with NAs, but looking at the FSM, it looks like you did everything right. The nipple on the "gold connector" in your original post goes to the long side of the PRVR solenoid (the side with only one nipple, red in my diagram). The opposite nipple on the PRVR solenoid (blue in my diagram) will go to a nipple on the driver's side accordian hose. The center nipple (green) goes to the FPR, as in my diagram.
