Message so i had made a post a while back about oil seeping through the cracks of the plastic timing cover, i had just got my timing belt and seals replaced at the time and the leak, which was also present before the belt and seal were changed still continued afterwards. In the thread i was told that it was probably the intake cam gears that were shot and needed replacing. So now i took everything apart to try and fix the leak.

Currently i have almost everything removed so i can see the timing belt clearly, i just havent removed the lower metal cover (ratchet just broke lol) anyways i was told that to check the condition of the intake cam gears i would have to rotate the gear and hold the back plate. Do i have to take off the timing belt to do this or can i use the crank to rotate the sprocket? Also i cant clearly see the backplate i have to hold, theres not much room to see through the tiny holes in the gear. Another thing that seems odd is that the gears dont look too old compared to most of the other gears on the car.

So should i just keep going and take of the timing belt or can i check anything out at the point im at now? I guess even though the timing belt is brand new i should change it again anyways, it doesnt seem like its oily or anything but theres oil all over the plate in back of the timing belt so some oil must have got onto the belt.

Also the possible leaks can be from the cam seals, the intake sprockets and is that it? Is it possible that its the seals that are leaking because i did not change the PCV valves or would that push out the seals and cause a really big oil leak, my leak is fairly small.
