Message Now I'm not totally positive, but I thought that the only potential difference on the harness was the EGR connector. So depending on the year of your Z, you'd have ONE connector that might not get used depending on year. (EGR)

Something seems quite very wrong if you've got 6 to 8 plugs that aren't connecting to anything. Pic of harness?

And FWIW, I'd totally replace the head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets - everything really - since you are there. I'd just have bought an engine gasket rebuild kit and anything you went past during your tear down - replace it so you know the true status as opposed to the alleged status of the vehicle.

While the head gasket is good to hold lots of boost and horsepower (I use normally stock ones but my Z only makes 600rwhp) - that's kind of not the point. The real point IMO is that you are there, and you should just replace it because you can. Then, it's new, and you know the condition of everything because you will have had the heads off and can check it all out. Shit, if that were my Z that I'd just bought or whatever, I'd take the heads off for pure curiousity! Clean it all up and know what I've really got...
