| Z. there is a small "switch" to the right. It touches the hood when the hood is closed so that the alarm will go off if the hood is opened. It usually has a black rubber cover that looks like an accordian on it, but if that is missing (like mine) then it will be a white "stick". Should be a little bigger than a triple "A" battery...
