| You're trading heat rejection for plug life. The "hotter" a plug, the less likely it is to foul, but the more prone it is to becoming a detonation-causing hot-spot in the combustion chamber. FWIW, I run NGK iridiums in the 8 heat range. If I were out buying plugs again, I'd probably run 7s because hot starts are an issue with the 8s. Lining them up next to the old ones (7 range NGK platinums), they're a tiny bit shorter.
