1. DON'T LET THE CAR CATCH ON FIRE. REPAIR THE FUEL LEAK! 2. CHECK THROTTLE BODY OPERATION. remove the rubber hoses connected to the throttle bodies. visually check that both TB valves are fully closed at idle and make sure the throttle cable moves back and forth freely. check TPS voltage (it should be ~ 0.45v at idle and ~ 4.00v at WOT). reconnect the hoses. 2. CHECK FOR AIR LEAKS. pressurize the intake manifold to 5 psi #### YOU MUST RULE OUT AIR LEAKS FIRST ! ! ! ! #### 3. CHECK AIR REGULATOR OPERATION. start the car and warm up the motor to operating temperature. don't worry if it runs rough at this point. pinch the hose going from the air regulator to the balance tube. if your idle speed drops closer to the normal range (around 700 RPM) then the air regulator is stuck open and should be replaced. if the idle speed is unchanged go to the next step. 4. CHECK IACV OPERATION. unplug the AAC valve harness connector located on the back of the IACV (it's a yellow connector). if your idle speed drops closer to the normal range (around 700 RPM) then you should rebuild/replace the IACV unit. a possible band-aid fix is to squirt WD-40 into the IACV inlet hose (it's a short 90 degree elbow on the drivers side of the IACV). if the idle speed is unchanged go to the next step. 5. CHECK EGR OPERATION. the EGR valve should be closed at idle but if it's stuck open then your Z won't like that very much
REPORT BACK AFTER YOU DID ALL THIS AND MAYBE I WILL HAVE MORE IDEAS. :D
you might have performed some of these steps already but unless you specify in your post we have no idea what steps you have taken. a search will yield detailed instructions on how to perform any of these steps if you don't already know what to do.
