Message But 2k engine RPM is a lot ... let's pretend the starter can turn at 2500 rpm and it has a gear ratio of 10:1 so the engine only turns at 250 rpm during cranking. (Some techno geek could fill in these numbers properly for the Z - because I pulled those right out of my aaa......)

But anyhow, it really doesn't have as much to do with the rpm as it does having an explosion occur at the wrong time or pistons wanting to move in the opposite direction they should be moving - like pistons coming down when they should be going up caused by ENERGY from the top ... and that energy needing to go somewhere. Or like in a hydro-lock ... the piston needing to go up at the right time but it can not (due to your fluid in the cylinder)

The point is that in an engine that is RUNNING, you've got this continued supplied of power. And even at 2000 rpm, it's moving many times faster than a starter motor can turn the engine. Plus, energy from any cylinders that might be firing properly contantly trying to drive that hyrdo-locked cylinder up and it just can't happen. So with a few seconds of running, and a lots of bad sounds, some of those rods will be bent. If there is massive fluid in the hole (I don't know how that could happen quickly to a running car other than to drive through 4 feet of water), I'd guess it'd break the rod or the engine would simply lock up like twooton's - though again that's just because of a lack of any real power.

Anyhow...fun
