Message Long time leech, though never post. Thought I would add something this time.

After searching the FAQ and forums concerning a problem I was having, I found SEVERAL posts about the same issue although no one bothered to post the fix or thank anyone for the advice at least. Their next posts immediately jump to a new issue leaving me with a dead end. (I even tried contacting some of the members through phone and email).

So for the sake of future searches,... here's what I had:

[1990 2+2 N/A no serious mods]
Car ran fine in the morning (no problems).
After a day of rain, I try to start the car to return home from work but she won't fire. Cranks good, but won't turn over. Checked the usual stuff, connectors, fuses etc.
Tried cracking for a while and even push starting (I was on a hill anyway) no good. After a few more minutes of on-and-off cranking, she fired up but idled and ran like she was missing a cylinder or two. Check engine light on. Aux fan always running. AC won't engage. No codes from the ECU. Tried reseating the ECU connector and then resetting it by removing power for 30 minutes... still no change.

A new ECU fixed this problem.

I've read a few posts about water condensation shorting out the eprom and since the only thing that happened between when the car ran good and later that night was heavy rain. There is no leaks in my car, just to make that clear. I guess condensation just built up from the inside on such a wet day. Although nothing smelled or looked fried inside the old ECU.
