| I have a few questions regarding a seized front passenger brake caliper on a 93tt. A trusted Z member has suggested Advance Autoparts as a source for rebuilt calipers. Over the phone Advance could not confirm whether the caliper would be made of aluminum or iron. Search seems to indicate members have had experiences going both ways. The prices have more than doubled, from ~$50 in 2005 to currently ~110. I also read about someone purchasing two units at once only to have them both leak. Could be a freak occurrence... Any thoughts concerning the composition, pricing, reliability, etc.? Is there anyone in the MD/DC/VA who would be willing to teach/help me to replace the caliper with a rebuilt unit? Or even better, maybe teach/help me to rebuild the current caliper? I would love to experience the rebuilding process and want to keep the low mileage caliper which has a known history. (Is this wise?) I am pretty sure I can get my hands on a working air compressor with the attachment. This would be my first time taking on the braking system as I have only encountered oil changes up till now. Thank you.
