Remove the EGI relay that is under the hood where the fuses and relays are located (driver's side above wheel well). My TT did the same thing and I began pulling relays until the car shut off. Just for kicks, I attempted to crank the car with this relay out and it worked perfectly. It has been this way now for over 2 years (6,000 miles). If you decide to dig deeper into the problem and find the rood of the problem, repost here for us.
