Message I drove up the CA coast this weekend and noticed that my TT is understeering pretty noticeably... not a fun problem to have when driving the Pacific Coast Highway. Needless to say I didn't tell my wife, who was in the car with me, about it or else she'd have gotten out of the car and hitchhiked home.

The car was slow to initiate turns at speeds over 30 mph and on long turns I could feel the car drifting ever so slightly. I checked the front tires and sure enough, the inside edges were worn down. I try to get my alignment done every 6 months, but haven't for about 12 months... another ruined set of tires. That's the third set of tires I've ruined because of the alignment in the last 6 years.

Also, every 3-4 months my HICAS indicator light comes on when I start the car. I put a few drops of fluid in the power steering reservoir and the light goes away. I was told it would cost about $500 to fix the leak, so I'm opting for the $1 in fluid every 3 months option.

So my question is this - Is the understeering problem likely due to my alignment problem and worn tires, is it related to the power steering fluid leak, or something else? I've had alignment problems in the past and worn tires, but never noticed the understeering problem before, though this time the wear pattern on the inside of the tires is wider than before.

Also, is there a fix for the problem of the wheels going out of alignment? I'm tired of constantly re-aligning the wheels and replacing the tires when I forget.
