It usually takes more than just a "tap." I used everything from a sledge hammer to an axle puller set and couldn't get it to move. I ended up taking the whole assembly apart from the lower control arm and had it pressed out at a shop. Hopefully you won't have to go through that much trouble. Don't be afraid to beat the thing out of there. Just put the axle nut on enough to protect the threads and smack it with a sledge hammer. G'luck.
