| Sounds a little like a diesel engine. Seems to be centered over the intake manifold, but my screw driver stethascope tells me it might be coming from the timing belt cover. I replaced the VTC springs last year. After searching it seems like it may be the tensioner failing and allowing the belt to slap the plastic. Any way to confirm this without taking the covers off? Any other ideas to check? If I can't narrow it down to anything else then I'll probably have the timing belt, tensioner and water pump replaced just to set my mind at ease.
