Hello, everyone. First time posting here. Great site. I've owned my Z32 for eight months now and have been reading up here and getting help from my local Z guru to tackle problems with it. I'll cut to the chase and fill in my back story after. I just got the AC fixed and am having some odd quirks going on that my mechanic attributes to the doors not working properly. The AC doesn't get as cold as it should be until after I've driven on the freeway and then gotten off and idle it. I'm almost finished working out some overheating issues, so I'll worry about that later. The clear problem is the settings on the control panel are off. Cold air only comes out on the Mixed Up/Down, Down Only, and Dash/Down settings. On the Upper Only setting it blows hot air no matter what temperature it is set at. Mixed Up/Down blows cold, but not quite as cold as Down Only. Additionally, after a few minutes the Mixed Up/Down audibly and noticeably changes on its own to mostly Down Only. I've searched for similar issues and haven't come across anyone reporting any. I've read this technical listing [ http://www.ttzd.com/tech/autocctech.html ] and don't quite understand how this helps me determine the problem. Anyone familiar with the AC system that understands how the doors can be acting in this manner? Next (I dunno if I should be making a separate thread for this), my car was broken into some time ago and the amplifier and subwoofer were stolen out of it. They didn't take the head unit because I had the face removed. But, since then the audio outputs seemed dead. I troubleshooted that myself and had the head unit bench tested to find that the outputs on it were dead. Besides that, I was installing my boost controller recently and found that the black Ground wire in the stereo wiring harness doesn't seem fully connected to ground. Measuring across the 12v lines and the black wire barely nets 1v, but across to a chassis ground comes out normal so it's the black wire that's the odd one out. Is that normal? I can't imagine it is, but I also can't imagine how that could have been "damaged" along with the head unit. Shouldn't a fuse have blown and there currently be a completely open circuit there if any surge was present? Last, the window was broken when they stole the stereo equipment. I've had that window replaced, but it doesn't quite mate properly with the weatherstripping to make a seal. I even took it back and had them adjust it and it is better, but not a complete seal. Is there any known adjustment that I can do to fix this, or does anyone know if the replacement weather stripping would be fat enough in new form to make up the difference? Any other ideas? Thanks to all who reply. My Z history: bought the car with a few upgrades on it back in December 07 with the only known problem to be the AC was out. On getting it home, I soon found the speedometer to be on the fritz and it smoking noticeably. Installed stereo amp, sub, head myself (yay firewall guide, ugh firewall work). Not long after two cylinders died and it was found the turbos were leaking oil into the intake. Did an engine swap, got the AC fixed and immediately ran into overheating issues. Changed out the fan clutch, helped a little. Upgraded to a Koyo radiator and that seems to have settled it out. Getting ready to swap in the overdrive water pump pulley and put on the replacement fan shroud that got shredded along the way. Disassembled the dash to get out the instrument cluster hoping to find bad solder joints as outlined in a tech post here, no luck. Resoldered all the joints anyway and, hey, the damn thing works now. Thanks TT.net.
