Message Is this how bearings look when they are getting worn in after new bearings are installed?

Well long story short, after taking a step forward I ended up having to take a step backward and taking my crank shaft out again. When I took the girdle off, I noticed something on the fresh new bearings I installed.

sorry for the bad picture, but you get the idea, it looks like the new bearing had it's outer layer worn down by the crank. My clearances are spot on so I am just wondering if this is normal or not. The thrust bearing and main bearing #1 are the only ones that got like this after turning the crankshaft a few times by hand, the other ones still look pretty much the same when I got them out of the packaging.

I have nightmares about that happening...I'd be the poor bastard you'd hear about on the news that gets killed by a softball-size chunk while spreading out my body over the hood and screaming "Nooo!" (Having a conversation about hail damage) - BradZ (FL) on March 25, 2005 at 9:56 PM

Tell your friend that you could take a dump, light it on fire and that would be hotter shit than his car. Probes suck, that's just all there is to it. - 300ZXpert (someday) on April 04, 2005 at 11:35 PM

P.S. You REALLY are on here at ALL hours! And I thought I was bad! :) - zmenon on August 16, 2005 at 3:06 AM
