Message	tot eh filter could have such a pressure drop that is only affected by heat. Is it possible that one of the rubber hoses has become delaminated inside and swells after fuel has run through it for a while? This might account for it actually using more fuel than whatever hole is left in the line for fuel the flow through reducing the pressure at the filter gauge.
