Message the added load of the compressor coming on? It sounds like the FICD (Fast Idle Control Device) may not be doing its job and causing the rpms to drop.

And no, there is no harmonic balancer for the A/C compressor. The other indication of a problem could be that the compressor is starting to fail and causing a vibration of some sort but I doubt that is the case here.

Did you do work on the accessory belts recently?
