Message that you have a loose connection along the intake track of the turbo? Retrace your steps and check all vacuum lines around that side of the motor where the turbo came out and all the way up to the plenum. Do a boost leak test and see if you can locate any sources of a leak.

From the small amount that I've been following, I think you've got a vacuum leak and since the turbo removal is one of the variables in your clutch situation, I'd check that out.
