Message I've got all the symptoms of PTU fail, sudden death, no spark at the plugs afterwards, occasional sputter on start attempt, died while driving then came back in seconds, now will NOT start though spins fast on trying to start.

My ECU is flashing "42" which I've read is the Fuel Temperature Sensor. (that should not occasion no spark it would seem to me).

Can the ECU pass the PTU test and yet the PTU is failing/failed?

My PTU is black "Nissan" and was replaced by the recall program in 1994, 14 years ago. It is located on the front timing belt cover. The car is fully-built 480hp TT, ran awhile in Utah where I imagine the heat is intense in summer. Now in Redmond WA where it's still cold in May!!

any ideas/comments/wisdom/experience like this?

tnx alot, everyone's been really helpful here!
Bob
