I have a 1990 300zx NA and recently discovered I have a trans leak. Even though I have a NA, the guy I bought it from put on a TT auto trans. It is leaking right at the bell housing, where it meets the motor. It is dripping at the bottom of that and there are also some drips on the starter. The guy who worked on it said it was the seal. We picked one up at Murray's. It is a SKF Oil Seal, Part # 17679. We took off the exhaust and the drive shaft and took out the trans and replaced the seal. After I drove it around for about 15 min, driving it hard and soft. I got back to his house and it seemed fine with no dripping at all and the shifting was smooth as ever. I drove it about 60 miles home, but discovered it was leaking again at the same spots. Could you guys help me out and tell me what else could be the problem? Thanks, James P.S. There are 2 bolts missing where the housing monuts to the motor. The guy who worked on it said that wouldn't make it leak.
