The FSM (Factory Service Manual) gives no explanations or procedures other than a schematic diagram of the wiring for the power antenna, and a procedure for changing the antenna mast if broken. So, taking a stab at logic, it appears that your antenna motor is operating as it should, but the timer is not. It should send voltage to the motor for 5 to 6 seconds to drive the antenna up and then shut off. The same sequence should happen when you turn the radio off, but the motor should work in the opposite direction. For some reason your timer isn't cooperating. When it drives the antenna up, do you hear the motor turn itself off, and then 18 seconds or so later you hear it start up again and pull the mast down? Or do you hear the motor start up and run continually for the entire 30 seconds? Regardless, the only way to know for sure, other than going to a Nissan Tech who has solved a similar situation, would be to find another Z32 owner who will allow you to swap his timer for yours, long enough to see if it corrects the problem. Then you'll know for sure if you need to replace your timer or look further for help. I don't suggest buying a new timer first, because if the new timer doesn't solve the problem, because the part is electrical you won't be able to return it. Can you source a used one from a recycling yard? eBay?
