Message	a maf will give a volt reading to the ecu depending of how much air passes through it. it runs from 0-5 volts. what for example 2 volts of air really means for the ecu is programmed in it. now if you use another maf with say a smaller diameter that "2 volts of air" suddenly aint the same mass of air as it was with the other one. your car will run either rich or lean dependant on what you put in there...
