Message	fender bleed line, which is the highest point in the system, and where air will get trapped. He needs the nipple to allow the trapped air to escape. I'm assuming you simply ran a line straight from the master to slave, which makes the master the highest point in the system, so there's nowhere for the air to get trapped.
