| If it is a DIY project then having the engine out is a great opportunity to do a lot of refurbishing on the NA engine at a relatively low cost, and then swap out the engine. In addition to the timing belt, I would do the following with the engine out of the car. 1) install U/R pulley ( if it is on your list) 2) delete egr system (virtually impossible with engine in the car) 3) pull the plenum and delete all the water lines from underneath it 4) replace all the vacuum hoses and water hoses - especially the short water lines on the back of the engine (way easier with the engine out unless you have micro hands) 5) replace the engine mounts ( almost guaranteed that one has had it) 6) on an NA, i would likely install a lightweight flywheel as well while you have it out. 7) also inspect, repair, replace the power steering hose while you have the engine out I am sure there is more - that is just of the top of my head. There is tonnes of info on this in the tech forum - that is how I learned to do it. Obviously, paying a shop to do all of this would be a lot more expensive Hope this helps
