Message I searched through my posts of my calculation spreadsheet (search keyword "wheel_calc*") and couldn't find where I ran numbers on an 18x8 wheel with +40mm offset. The closest I came to is 18x8.5 with the same offset. But it's pretty simple to interpret the results.

In the "Front" section, I ran numbers on 18x8.5 with different offsets. Going to the numbers for the wheel with +40 offset, you will see that for the 8.5" wheel it is 17.7mm wider than the stock front wheel on the outside and it's going to be 7.7mm wider than the stock wheel on the inside. Now since you're looking at an 8" wheel, we just need to adjust the numbers from the 8.5" wheel by subtracting a 1/4" from the outside and inside lip numbers. Converting to metric: 1/4" is roughly equal to 6.7mm. Now subtract this from the 17.7 figure for the outside lip of the wheel and 7.7 figure for the inside lip = the 18x8 wheel with +40 offset will stick out 11 mm (almost 1/2") wider than the stock wheel and on the inside it will only be 1mm (negligible) on the inside. This applies to the front and rear.

All of this translates that you should not have a problem with rubbing or contacting the fender or suspension. You still need to be cautious and verify that the spokes will properly clear the brake calipers. (Check out this link: Wheel offsets: A visual guide)

I hope this info was helpful. By the way, the 350Z wheels fit without any issue - in case you were wondering about that.

Good luck,

Dave
