Message	...I had to deal with that problem on a rear axle plug. It was 3/8", but same deal. I took a chisel, and ground the sides down into a taper, so it would fit diagonally, and tight when pounded in. Then a 8pt. socket, on the end of the chisel. Actually, on the last one, I got brave, and used a 1/2" air impact. Worked sweet!. Done this more than once. With experience, comes age.
