Long before my alternator started to fade I was intent on upgrading to a higher amp unit. The premise for the upgrade was the electric fan which was drawing 30 amps. That coupled with a 6 speaker stereo w/ amp, other electronic gadgets and the normal demand of the original oem systems electronics was taxing the oem unit. Via the internet I looked and looked. I wanted to stay Nissan on the alt so that narrowed the search field. I found that the Nissan Quest used a 140 amp and some models of the Maxima and Infinity I30 used a 140 amp. Most models of the Maxima and I30 used a 110 & 120 amp. Alas, Ebay, I found a rebuild shop out in California, Eagle Auto Electric, that actually rebuilds the units. I called them and spoke with the owner named Steve. He explained which year Maximas and I30's carried the 140amp unit. He was very helpful and he was also the person whom I called and asked about the pulley. I told him what application i used the alt in and he knew immediately that I needed a 3 groove pulley that would work with that alt. It was in my hands 4 days later. If I recall the years are 1996-2001 Maxima / I30.
