| of the line and a pair of Vicegrips. It should hold pressure then. I verified it was the pressure leaking off with a fuel pressure gauge. Pressure would bleed off almost instantly when turning off the engine as I recall. I had this problem 10 years ago, and I think it was either the check valve on the pump, or the short piece of hose inside the tank leaking. My symptoms were hard starting after sitting for a while, but easy to start right after you killed the engine. I pseudo-solved my problem at the time by putting a fused 12V line with a switch straight to the pump so I could turn the switch on and the pump would tun full speed and pressurize the rails, then I would start and drive the car with no problems. The extra fuel from running at full speed just got recirced back to the tank, with the only downsides being increased noise from the pump since it was running wide open all the time, and presumably somewhat (who knows how much) shortend pump life.
