So part of it is where you go for service.If you go to a specialist or a non-dealer shop, you might end up paying as little as half that much. My advice: Use those issues to get the car cheaper, and then fix the valve cover gasket yourself in your garage, just pay for parts. The valve cover gaskets shouldnt be *too* bad if you PREPARE yourself well and have some help. As for the rear main seal, Ive been told to let a shop do it. If you go to the right place youll pay WELL under half for parts/labor than what the dealer wants.
