:for towing, theres kind of a balance... :It's cheaper to change clutches then it is autotrannies, and it's always "1:1" to your gear. But it also depends on how your trailer a car. Damonz can attest, I am down right grandma (to the point of angering damonz). Yes, he does. However, As I can attest, Damonz is a NUT (to the point of me quivering in the passanger seat). So driving style is important.
Just because I almost killed both of us w/i 5 minutes of leaving the house that one day... sheesh. Just F one goat.... :If you can keep it in 3rd, and stay low and slow, an auto will be fine (with an auto cooler) Get something that's actually labeled a 'factory towing package'. I was very specific when I bought my Tawhore to get the right setup. 5.3L engine (they downsized this year, but it's got more HP then 2002) w/ the 3.7 rear gear. Transmission cooler, and proper tow bar. Don't drive in OD, use 3rd only, unless the road is flat flat flat and there's no traffic to have to diddle with. If you do roll OD, watch the engine temp... if it gets hot, drop back to 3rd. :If you are running from the law, go with a 5/6 speed. I always feel more incontrol with a manual, and towing, but it takes more user intervention. THere are also fewer (and cheaper) parts that can break. But an auto to tranny conversion will be more intensive to complete. Yeah, if you only towed with it, I'd go manual, but for day to day.. auto is the way to go in a Tahoe+ sized vehicle. M02

"Never underestimate the power of a wheelie." - Jesse James on Monster Garage's BTS show. Couldn't agree with him more... still waiting to see NiXit's Joop do a reverse wheelie. When was the last time you *really* did something with your Z to call yourself a Z enthusiast? Member #1 PETZ
