:and how much of a convertion process is that? I read your profile (took forEVER to find the tahoe), you have a 1996.. you will have to meet 1996 emmissions, for that reason forget the obd2 conversion. I can do it cause the joop is 1993, and I can fool the state into thinking it's a 1995 motor (versus 1996 whcih in my case makes emmissions testing even more difficult). You should be able to get a similar motor and tranny from a tahoe and just swap them. 98% of stuff should hook right back up. for towing, theres kind of a balance... It's cheaper to change clutches then it is autotrannies, and it's always "1:1" to your gear. But it also depends on how your trailer a car. Damonz can attest, I am down right grandma (to the point of angering damonz). However, As I can attest, Damonz is a NUT (to the point of me quivering in the passanger seat). So driving style is important. If you can keep it in 3rd, and stay low and slow, an auto will be fine (with an auto cooler) If you are running from the law, go with a 5/6 speed. I always feel more incontrol with a manual, and towing, but it takes more user intervention. THere are also fewer (and cheaper) parts that can break. But an auto to tranny conversion will be more intensive to complete.
