| The accessory belts are exposed to debris so why are they not covered? A cog belt is much less likely to slip or jump then a ribbed belt. I have never heard of or seen an accessory belt jump off track due to any debris or rocks that have entered the engine bay even with the lower cover missing. I think that you are more likely to have the timing belt deteriorate and break from oil soaking(which you could catch before disaster with the covers removed) then from debris. Anyway....look at your engine bay with the bottom cover on it and tell me where anything bigger then a spec of sand is going to enter the engine bay. Even still with the cover removed tell me what the chance of a rock or any small object would bounce just perfect between the accessory belts, radiator fan, and radiator fan shroud?? It would be a better chance to win the lottery.
