...but try launching an aluminum flywheel @ 2500 rpms. You won't have enough torque to get off the line without burning up the clutch or bogging the engine. You should slip the clutch on the launch, but by no means should you have to ride it half way down the track to get moving.
If you are using a puck type clutch, I don't know what the hell you should do. I wouldn't put that in my car.
