Subject	Does opening the hood after a drive do much?

Message	Whenever I get home from work, which is about a 30minute drive with about half being 80mph highway and half being stop and go up to 60mph, I pop the hood and let it sit for about 5 minutes. how much hot air does the metal hood retain? does opening the hood for just 5 minutes do anything or am i wasting my time?
