Message lets back up one post.
I am not sure of the air that you breathe, Ash, but MY air consists of ~21% O2 and 78!% N2.
If I began a statement to someone in a face to face conversation, they would immediately be put on the defensive. We obviously all breathe the same air.
The pressure/temperature relation is correct, but the dramatic increase in temperature is a DIRECT result of the oxidation-reduction reaction (ie. combustion) occurring, not because of pressure increase alone.
I did not want to get into the more complcated aspects of combustion. I am fully aware of the dynamics that take place and what all results in the increase in pressure. I have 3 years of inorganic chemistry and 3 years of physics under my belt (with calculus) and as I started to get into these dynamics, I decided that it would be well beyond the scope of the original post. However, I was hopinig that it would eventually come down to combustion dynamics as N2O introduces significantly more nitrogen into the mixture which acts as a thermal buffer to absorb a lot of heat of the reaction. Much more nitrogen than what atmospherc air contributes (2N2O + heat = 4N2 + O2). This bufferng effect actually promotes significantly smoother and complete combustion. Despite this, we never got to this point because your approach was more of an arrogant pose as if you were just far to ahead of us to really contribute anything worthwhile.

That said, this is obviously not a graduate level class. Nor anything approaching it. What graduate are we talking about? H.S. chemistry or Junior High?
As for this following statement, I never said that this was a graduate level course. Steve Simmons is an owner of twinturbo.net, I'm sure he apprecated your comment about him. He posted a while back as a suggestion to people to keep their heads level when discussing thngs of this nature. I simply quoted what he said. I only suggested that people think of it in this manner as most higher-level educated people tend to skip over the highschool dynamics and get right to the point. Thankyou for taking us all back to gradeschool.
