Message :Harmonic balancers are used in motors that are not internally balanced to minmize tortional vibrations from the crankshaft.

I disagree. Harmonic Dampeners minimize torsional vibrations that are the result of normal combustion events...whether or not the rotating assembly is internally balanced or not doesn't matter. Removing the harmonic dampener will increase the amplitude of these torsional vibrations...the question is whether or not this will cause damage.

Those vibrations can be dangerous specially in high RPMs, resulting in damaged bearings and/or a broken crankshaft.

Agreed.

:VG30DETT, infact all nissan motors for that matter are internally balanced. Hence the proven fact that many of our high hp cars are running lighter underdrive pullys without problems for years.

I think the short length of the VG30 crank is the reason why torsional vibrations aren't a critical issue. Shorter cranks will have a higher resonant frequency, which will likely occur outside of the operating RPM range of the engine. Inline sixes obviously have longer cranks and therefore a lower resonant frequency, so a harmonic dampener is more critical in this case.

imho
