Message Harmonic balancers are used in motors that are not internally balanced to minmize tortional vibrations from the crankshaft. Those vibrations can be dangerous specially in high RPMs, resulting in damaged bearings and/or a broken crankshaft.

VG30DETT, infact all nissan motors for that matter are internally balanced. Hence the proven fact that many of our high hp cars are running lighter underdrive pullys without problems for years. The stock crankshaft's length in a V6 configuration allows for it to be extremely strong and stable, naturally minimizing tortional vibrations.
