Message The Japanese have given up on the Z32. A very nice condition stock ZTT will only fetch about $4k. Your average 90-91 ZTT is in the $2500-$3500 range here. I have seen some Z's with TD05 kits and all the supporting mods go for less than $5k... one was even $2k because it needed to have an inspection (JCI) and the open wastegates on the TD05 kit would not pass.

Nissan, at least in Japan, has no concern about individuals or shops coying their chips and tweaking them. Just about every shop in Japan has the ability to tune the Nissan 8bit ecu's and advertises that they do. I would even go as far as to say that Nissan probably WANTS these shops to tune people's cars since that indirectly increases sales for Nissan, Nismo, and Tomei (which are essentially Nissan).
The high end tuning shops are always trying to hack into the newer car's ecus and they are perpetually playing a game of " Tell me what you know, and I will tell you what I know". There is even a web site for tuners that has ALL the stock JDM ecu codes posted... you have to be a member to download the codes but you can look. (If anyone wants to take a lookie I will see about getting the web address , I don't have it on me now.)
Now I don't know if Nissan USA has any issues with tuning but I would take a guess and say no. Most likely, if they did, we would have heard from them by now.

To clear up the BottleFed issue, some time ago he bought a JWT chip. Nothing fancy just the standard stage 3 stock injector TT chip. A couple of weeks ago he bought one of my chips and one of Ash's chips and he did some comparing. I think it was some dyno runs and / or some track runs but I am not positive and I have not seen the info myself. After he completed his testing he decided to sell the JWT and the Ash chip. This was his decision and if anyone wants to question it then email him, I am sure he will tell you why (nice, polite guy that loves to race his Z).
Now the point of concern, I have answered some of Jason's questions about tuning the Z ecu as he has an interest in learning how to do this for himself. Those of you out there who know me, know that I do this. From the type of questions that he has asked, there is no doubt that he *does not have* an eprom programmer. Even if he wanted to copy Ash's tune, he does not have the equipment to do it, and if he sells the chip before he buys a programmer he will not have the chip on hand to copy. Anyone here that knows me, knows that you can take my word to the bank. **Jason has not copied Ash's chip in any way or form.**
I have encouraged him to learn to make his own programs (errrrr I mean tweak the stock Nissan code) and he is on his way to doing so.
