| I have alcohol injection on my Z. I know it works and I know WHY it works. It's basically the same as a water injection system. I keep hearing people talk about whether it will help in cold climates as well as hot ones, whether it cools down the intake charge, Whether it works better than an intercooler. Christ you guys!!! Water and Alcohol injection is primarily to RAISE YOUR OCTANE (or apparent octane, whatever) to PREVENT KNOCK, by doing the same thing higher octane gas does: the gas can explode later and more controlled, and at a higher flash temp. The fact it may or may not cool down the air charge is NOT something you can count on for a performance gain, in fact, my tuneable (knobs all over the place) system lets me experience the fact that too much alcohol can actually slow you down, cool air charge or not. The effect of "no knock happening in hotter weather", and that being "a good thing", is a result mainly of you raising the "octane" of your gas by using water... Not of cooling off your intake charge. _MWS
