| I know many of you are probably expecting stage3 results and I apologize that I do not have those to give to you as our donor car is nowhere to be found. Not sure where he is, but we have been calling him all day. We will have those results likely later this week when we return with Ab's car. However, we did take Patrick Heard's X-BOX winning TTZ with us again to see what it could do. We took it last week but it was having misfire issues because it had the wrong plugs in it. We corrected that issue and replaced a missing tension bolt on the external wastegate (passenger side) so we could get the boost back up. This car has a STOCK ENGINE, stock internals, stock cams, stock heads. It has 555cc injectors, a FMIC, DUAL-POP. It simply has bolt-ons. After several test pulls to ensure everything was good, I raised the boost up to 24psi and the car produced ~520RWHP. I removed the NOS tank and had it refilled at Higgins' tank filler station and put it into the car. Ignition timing was reduced several degrees to account for NOS injection and a pull was made. The car was having some minor overheating issue and was wanting to run ~200 degrees consistently, but it was pretty damn hot out today (around 95 degrees). A pull was made which produced ~600RWHP and I made a few modifications to the mappings and performed another pull. We shot upwards to 680RWHP and did more revising to the code. At the 15th pull we were making 703HP at 671ft/lbs of torque. I made an adjustment to the ignition timing and made another pull; we made our mark at 741.1HP at 679ft/lbs of torque. Here is the dyno chart:
We were satisfied with the results. On a humorous note, as I was stepping out of the car, the owner came over and asked the dyno guy (Dave) if we broke 600.. Dave replied, yeah, a little bit.. :) Tommy (the owner) looked at the dyno result and with big bulging eyes and stated "DAMN BOYS! You broke our dyno record of 720HP!!" The thing that humors us the most is that Higgin's Ford Automotive is solely a mustang shop! Our conversation continued on to other facts about the Z's engine like it being 181 cubic inches, 6 cylinders, 4HP per cubic inch (in this case), 871 flywheel horsepower, etc etc etc.. As much as we were excited about it, we were all standing shaking our heads in disbelief. If you have any qualms about these results, I EMPLORE you to contact these guys and ask for yourself.. They are mustang owners and as much as they would hate to admit it, the car consistently made over 600/700RWHP for several pulls - ALL on a STOCK ENGINE! It drove home on its own power and is running smoothly on all 6 cylinders. Bottom line: a stock piston will not withstand a 600+HP detonation spike without breaking ring lands - I was very aware of this fact in the tuning process and against what many may believe, it was done right (obviously). Another note on this car: Patric Heard won the X-BOX competition at Bristol, TN two weekends ago. His car will be featured at NOPI's X-BOX booth with this dyno chart. You have seen pics of this car as a member posted them from the event.. Here are some more pictures we just took of the car for this post.. Enjoy!
