| Disassembly ? I got a carbon fiber driveshaft from acpt that has rusted in the last year. They wont warranty it, but said they will fix the rusted ends for $365.00! I find that a little high Since You can buy an entire aluminum driveshaft forwhat they are quoting me to replace their ends. Realistically, It is probably all surface rust. So I think I am going to dissassemble the ends, sand the rust off of them and paint them with something (dont know what kind of paint yet). will it have to be rebalanced after this?
Also, concerning proper disassembly,
If you look at the pics, there are snap rings holding all of it together. The snap rings will come off easy but I am afraid to apply force to the cross-shaped piece inside that binds the end to the driveshaft. Are those just four bushings on each corner of the cross that should slide out/through where the snap rings go? Or am I looking at this wrong?
