Disengage the starter? maybe you know something about installation that i don't? I have a remote start on my Z, and havent had a problem yet. My Clifford even came with a warning label to put in the engine bay, just in case someone without a mechanic that I might put the Z in one day has no experience with remote starts. Of course, it works fine for 99% of the people its installed for. It's the 1% that counts :) :And...only three feet of working space between a person and a car? yes its a long truck.
